Delivering the Lab fitout for Nucleome as Inventa’s first tenant.

Engaged to deliver the laboratory fitout for Nucleome at the Inventa building for Mission Street.

The tenant

Nucleome is a biotechnology and immunology company that focuses on mapping the non-coding human genome. They use pioneering 3D genomics and machine learning to decode these "dark" regions of DNA (where 90% of disease-associated changes occur) to discover precision medicines and new drug targets for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Originally a spinout from Oxford University, Nucleome aims to address traditional drug discovery failure rates by derisking novel targets through proprietary genomics approaches. Nucleome will be relocating from its existing headquarters at the Oxford Science Park. In 2022 the company completed an oversubscribed £37.5 million Series A funding round backed by investors including Oxford Science Enterprises, M Ventures, Pfizer Ventures, British Patient Capital and Johnson & Johnson Innovation.

Acting as Project Managers and Contractor Administrators, we were engaged in this lab-enabled building to deliver 8,000sqft of laboratory and 10,000sqft of office spaces within a tight timescale.

The building

Located within a former Argos warehouse in Oxford, the western-most units of the Inventa Building are transformed into a flexible and community-driven workspace for Nucleome Therapeutics. The design brings together ground-floor laboratories and first-floor open-plan offices to create a vibrant, collaborative environment.

Zoned through a series of adaptable ‘islands’ and anchored by a central town-hall space and communal tea point, the workplace supports a wide spectrum of activities – from focused work to informal gatherings, all while maximising natural light, flexibility, productivity and social connection.
